What PDF to JPG does
This tool draws each PDF page you choose and saves it as a separate JPG image — one image per page. A 10-page selection gives you 10 images, named after your file and the page number, such as report-page-3.jpg. One image downloads directly; several can be downloaded one by one or together as a ZIP.
Pages are rendered at twice the PDF's base size — about 144 pixels per inch. For a US Letter page that's roughly 1,224 × 1,584 pixels; for A4, about 1,191 × 1,684 pixels. That's sharp on phones, laptops and in presentations.
Why convert PDF pages to images
- Inserting a page into slides or documents. An image of a chart, floor plan or certificate drops straight into PowerPoint, Google Slides or Word.
- Sharing on messaging apps and social media. Many apps preview images instantly but show PDFs as a download link.
- Websites and listings. Menus, flyers and brochure pages are often shown as images on web pages or marketplaces.
- Quick previews. Sending "page 4" as a picture lets someone see it without opening a PDF reader.
How to convert a PDF to JPG
- Add a PDF. The tool shows its page count once it has loaded.
- Choose the pages. All pages, or Custom range with entries such as
1-3, 7. - Pick a quality. Smaller file, Balanced (default) or Best quality. This changes JPEG compression, not the pixel dimensions.
- Convert and download. Each page is rendered in turn; then download individual images or the whole set as a ZIP.
Quality, file size and the limits of JPG
What the quality setting changes
All three settings produce images of the same dimensions. Smaller file compresses more strongly and can show faint blocky artefacts around sharp edges; Best quality keeps edges crisper but makes each image larger. Balanced is a sensible default for most documents.
JPG is a photo format
JPG is excellent for photographs and scanned pages, but it is lossy and was not designed for crisp black text on white. At close zoom, text and thin lines may show slight smudging. It also has no transparency: every image has a solid background.
When a different format would be better
- Text should stay selectable or searchable → keep it as a PDF. Extract the pages you need into a smaller PDF instead.
- Diagrams, line art or screenshots with sharp text → PNG is lossless and usually cleaner; this tool produces JPG only, so choose Best quality to reduce artefacts.
- Large-format printing → about 144 pixels per inch is fine for screens but lower than typical print resolution. Print from the PDF itself when possible.
Tips
- Convert only the pages you need. Rendering takes a moment per page; a custom range is faster and gives you fewer files to sort through.
- Your range sets the order. Pages are converted in the order you type them, but each file name always includes the original page number, so nothing gets mixed up.
- Fix orientation first. If a page is sideways in the PDF, the image will be too. Use Rotate PDF before converting.
- For social media, a portrait document page will be cropped by some apps' previews; people can still tap to see the whole image.
Common problems
- "That file doesn't look like a valid PDF"
- The file may be damaged or password-protected. Open it in your PDF reader to confirm it works; if it's protected and you're entitled to it, save an unprotected copy first.
- Text looks slightly blurry when zoomed in
- The images are about 144 pixels per inch and JPG-compressed. Choose Best quality, or keep the page as a PDF if people need to zoom into fine print.
- Some text or images are missing from a page
- Rarely, unusual fonts or effects inside a PDF don't render exactly as they do in desktop software. Compare with your PDF reader; if something's missing, a screenshot from that reader may be a workable fallback.
- It's slow on a long document
- Each page is drawn in your browser. For large documents, convert in smaller ranges and keep the tab in the foreground.
PDF to JPG FAQ
No. Pages are rendered into images by JavaScript in your browser, and the JPG files are created on your device. The PDF is not sent to our server as part of conversion.
About 144 pixels per inch — twice the PDF's base size. A US Letter page becomes roughly 1,224 × 1,584 pixels.
Yes. Choose Custom range and type a single page number, such as 4. You'll get one image that downloads directly.
Image size depends on the page's content and the quality setting. Photo-heavy pages make bigger JPGs than plain text pages. Choose Smaller file to reduce size, or Best quality for sharper text.
This tool outputs JPG only. JPG is ideal for photos and scans; for sharp text it's best to keep the page as a PDF, or use the Best quality setting.
No. A JPG is a picture of the page, so its text can't be selected or searched. Keep a PDF copy if you need that.
